Work from Park: what Dubai’s announcement asks of a useful outdoor workspace

A different setting can change the working day. Dubai’s Work from Park announcement raises practical questions about shade, access and a useful outdoor workspace.
The news
Dubai Municipality announced Work from Park on 19 April 2026, with cooperation involving Group AMANA and Letswork. The announcement placed the first planned destination at Al Barsha Pond Park and expected opening in May. It does not establish actual public opening, current booking availability, prices or service conditions for November.
Our take
The idea is appealing: work need not always happen in the same kind of room. A change of setting can also be a reason to reconsider what a particular task needs. Quiet reading, a private call and a collaborative session are different activities, even when they share a laptop.
Our suggestion is to treat the project as an invitation to ask better workspace questions. A useful setting should fit the work and the people around you. An attractive concept does not remove the need to check access, comfort, privacy and the practical arrangements for a visit.
What it means for you
Before making plans around this initiative, confirm the current position with the operator. Ask whether the location is open, what can be booked and which facilities are included. The April announcement alone is not a booking confirmation or evidence that a particular workspace can be used today.
If a suitable space is available, choose a first task that does not depend on unverified facilities. Check power, connectivity and whether calls are appropriate. Keep confidential documents and conversations out of public view, and follow your organisation’s rules for working away from its usual premises.
Consider the surrounding park as a shared place. Work should coexist with recreation rather than assume priority over other visitors. Observe the operator’s guidance, keep belongings contained and avoid turning a communal area into an improvised meeting room.
After any confirmed visit, assess the practical experience. Was the space suitable for the task? Could you arrive and leave conveniently? Would you choose it again for the same kind of work? Those answers are more useful than assuming every outdoor workspace will suit every person or project.
